Valentine’s Celebration
Sometimes life gets so busy that we rarely take time to just hang out with friends, the routine takes the best from us and sometime we even forget to say I love you to those that matter to us, and that is why I think that San Valentines it’s the perfect excuse to gather around and celebrate friendship and love.
La mayoría del tiempo estamos ocupados, por lo cual rara vez nos damos tiempo de salir con amigos, la rutina toma nuestro tiempo y energía y algunas veces hasta olvidamos decir te quiero a las personas que mas nos importan, y es por eso que creo que San Valentín es un buen recordatorio para reunirnos y celebrar el amor y la amistad.
Let me tell you that the first year living in Tucson was pretty lonely I could not wait to go back to my hometown and see my family and friends, and even though I still miss them a lot, I was lucky enough to meet great people here (Thank you mommy and me classes) I just feel so grateful to have them in our life and a couple months ago one of those moms suggested we star doing play dates in different house to get to know each other better and plus it was a great way to get the kids to play with “new “toys and just hand with their pears. To our surprise the little ones loved it, not just the idea of hanging out but the little host was always static for having people over. So when all stores started offering Valentine’s day merchandise I knew I wanted to do Valentine’s themed play date for Elena, her little friends and moms.
Te comparto que el primer año viviendo en Tucson fue muy solitario, me la pasaba esperando cualquier excusa para regresar a Tijuana a ver a mi familia y amigos, y aunque aun nos extraño mucho, tuve la suerte de conocer gente maravillosa (Gracias clases mommy and me) Y me siento muy agradecida de tener a estas personas en nuestras vidas. Y justo hace unos meses una de esas mamás sugirió que podríamos hacer playdates en las casas de cada una de las mamas del grupo, de esta manera podríamos convivir un poco más fuera de las clases donde ya nos veíamos una vez a la semana y además los niños tendrían la oportunidad de jugar con juguetes “nuevos” cada vez que nos reuniéramos en un lugar diferente. Y para nuestra gran sorpresa los pequeños estuvieron encantados con la idea de ser anfitriones. Así que cuando las tiendas empezaron a bombardear con mercancía de San Valentín no pude evitar caer en su juego y decidí organizar un playdate de San Valentín para Elena, sus amiguitos y las mamas.
I tend to get super excited when hosting and sometimes I tried to do a little bit to much, so this time I kept reminding me to keep it simple and fun, some decorations, and fun craft the can do, some sweet treats obviously and of course lots and lots of playing.
Y como cuando organizo fiestas tiendo a emocionarme de más, trate de constantemente recordarme de que se mantuviera simple y divertido, solo algunas decoraciones, una manualidad que puedan hacer niños de dos años, obviamente no podrían faltar postres y chocolates en San Valentín y por supuesto mucha diversión.
So, I went to the store looking for valentine garland that happened to be perfect for the main wall of my dining room, some napkins and cute plates. For the snacks, I’m thinking something between sweat and salty, after all Valentines is all about indulge and chocolate, so I got some chocolate kisses, some heart shape gummies and I made Red Velvet cupcakes and heart shaped brownies. To cut a little bit the sugar crush and not feel like the worse mom ever for filling up my kid with sugar I’m also adding pretzels, fresh fruit like strawberries and blackberries and cheese string for the little ones.
Así que empecé a buscar algunas decoraciones para la ocasión, resulta que encontré esta guirnalda perfecta para recordar que fecha estamos festejando, la podre en la pared de comedor que es lo primero que vez cuando entras por la puerta, también encontré unos platos en forma de corazón y servilletas. Para el menú, cuando tenemos playdate solo ofrecemos snacks, pero como es San Valentín los snack serán un toque más dulce de lo normal, entonces ofreceré una mezcla entre dulce y salado, y no sería San Valentín sin chocolate en alguna de sus presentaciones, conseguí estos kisses con unas envolturas rosas y rojas, gomitas en forma de corazón, y no puedo dejar pasar la oportunidad para hornear y en esta ocasión será cupcakes de Red Velvelt y brownies, y para balancear un poco el azúcar, y no sentirme la pero mama por solo ofrecer cosas dulces a nuestros invitados, también podre pretzels, fruta fresca como fresas y moras, y un favorito de todos los pequeños quesitos.
To keep the theme on point I decided that the craft for the kids should be “make your own Valentine”, so I looked for material that were friendly for two years old and that did not include glue, paint, or anything to messy, to narrow down the accident possibility, and I found these cute little heart shaped foams, I added every kid name with cute glitter letter stickers and got some foam stickers in different shapes and colors for them to personalize their valentine. Cute and simple enough to keep them entertain for 15 min if we are lucky.
Y para mantener la temática de la reunión en la manualidad de los niños será “haz tu Valentine”, así que fui a buscar materiales que fueran amigable para pequeños de dos años y que de preferencia no incluyera pegamento, pintura o nada que pudiera causar deditos manchados, y hacer delimitar un poco la posibilidad de accidentes, y encontré unos corazones de fomi blancos, los cuales personalice con el nombre de cada niño con calcomanias de letras y además conseguir calcomanías de fomi para que cada quien personalice su corazón las cuales ya traen pegamento, así que cumplen perfecto con la misión.
I think this is a simple and fun way of celebrating valentine’s day, and if you have no kid in the equation this could easily be upgrade to a Galentines just a fun drink like a cotton candy cocktail or just a simple glass of bubbly and you got yourself a party.
Creo que esta un manera simple y divertida de celebrar San Valentín, y si no hay niños incluidos puedes convertir la reunión a un Galentines, con tus amigas y agregar un trago divertido a la mezcla, como champagne de algodón de azúcar o simplemente un vino espumoso y listo tienes una fiesta.
