Sesame Street Birthday Party - Pink Honey Tales

Elena just turned two and I’m still processing that my baby girl is two and how fast time goes by. Obviously, we needed to celebrate this occasion. And like my mom always says, “I’m always looking for an excuse to party”. But I think that is important to look for occasions to gather with family and friends and have a good time and create memories.

Elena cumplió dos años, no puedo creer que mi bebe tiene dos años y lo rápido que pasa el tiempo. Y obvio esta ocasión no podía pasar desapercibida en nuestra familia esto ameritaba una buena celebración. Eso y el hecho de que como dice mi mama “Yo siempre estoy buscando una excusa para festejar”. Pero creo que es parte de la vida buscar cualquier ocasión para estar cerca de la familia y amigos.

Selecting the Sesame Street Theme

The best way to start planning a party it’s by picking a theme. It just makes easier to look for every possible idea in Pinterest. This year theme was Sesame Street, Elmo is Elena’s favorite character so it was an easy choice. After choosing the theme, we designed the invitation. And even though I don’t print them (I’m kind of ecofriendly about that). I like to add the invitation to the Facebook Event. Is an easy way to keep track of who is coming and get in contact with everyone in the same place.

La mejor manera de iniciar a planear una fiesta es determinando cual será el tema. Y este año fue Plaza Sésamo, Elmo es uno de los personajes favoritos de Elena asi que la decision fue facil. Y fue una de sus primeras palabras, así que nos pareció apropiado para la ocasión. Aunque no soy de las personas que reparte invitaciones impresas digamos que e eso sentido soy ecologista. Si me gusta agregar este detalle al evento que creamos en Facebook siento que le da un toque mas personal.

Sesame Street Backdrop

The key to make everything look amazing without running around like crazy (I learned something from her first birthday). Is to just have one focal point for the party. In this case the dessert table. And this backdrop was a game changer it was the best purchase I made for the party. The colors were vibrant the characters so neat, I just loved it. It set the ambiance for the entire place. I also added her stuffed Elmo with a Guest book and Cookie Monster guarding a jar of cookies.

Para que una fiesta se vea genial enfocate en un lugar que quieres que sobre salga. En este caso elegí la mesa de postres. Lo que más sobresalía de la mesa era el fondo que usamos. Esta fue la mejor compra que hice para toda la fiesta. Los colores eran vibrantes, los personajes estaban bien definidos, simplemente me encanto. Tambien agregue a la mesa un Elmo con el libro de invitados y a Cookie Monster junto a las galletas.

Sesame Street Cupakes and Elmo Cake

We served a Cute Elmo Cake and Sesame Street cupcakes. I got inspired in our family favorite characters. Elena also loves cookie Monster and she would only request cookie monster cupcakes every time she wanted one. It was the hardest thing for her to wait an entire day to be able to those cupcakes. My favorite character is Abby so a made this beautiful Abby cupcakel. Lastly but no least Javier’s favorite Grover, the trick here was to make it look different from cookie monster, but I think I accomplished.

Además del Pastel de Elmo, también ofrecimos cupcakes con los personajes favoritos de la familia. A Elena le encanta Cookie Monster y cada vez que me pedía un cupcake tenia que ser de cookie Monster. Y lo más complicado fue tener que esperar hasta que fuera su fiesta para poder probarlos. Mi personaje favorito es Abby. Y este fue mi cupcake favorito, es un diseño original de Honey cakes and cupcakes. Y el favorito de Javier que es Grover, lo difícil fue hacer que Grover se viera diferente que Cookie Monster, pero creo que el objetivo se cumplió.

Kids Play Area

Moreover we made a play area for the little ones. We used an kiddie pool and balls to improvise a ball pit and add some inflatable toys. Certainly We could not let our Mexican heritage on the side. So, we got a piñata, the kids took turns to hit it, it was a success. It was a great day Elena really enjoyed herself and having her friends and family to celebrate with her.

Para niños agregarmos un espacio para que pudieran jugar, improvisamos una alberca de pelotas y les pusimos algunos juguetes inflables. Y como toda fiesta infantil mexicana, no podía faltar una piñata. En conlcusión fue un gran día para Elena lo disfruto al máximo. Estaba feliz de tener a sus amigos y familia para celebrar con ella.
