Easter Egg Hunt Idea

It’s April and we are about to start our fourth week of social distancing, which means, Easter at home. So, I planned a little Easter Egg hunt for Elena, to remind me of what I can control. Just because the world is going crazy around us, it doesn’t mean that we can’t have a memorable time in family. Is this my perfect scenario? No; would I rather be with friends and family? Yes. But I know that what are we doing is bigger than that. So, I’ll focus on what I can control to make Easter special for my little one.

Es abril y estamos a punto de iniciar nuestra cuarta semana de cuarentena, lo que significa que pasaremos Pascua encerrados en casita. Pero no por que el mundo esta de cabeza en este momento, significa que no podemos tener un buen momento en familia. Así que organice algo para Elena, para celebrar Pascua, y para recordarme que aun hay cosas que si puedo controlar. ¿Es este mi escenario ideal? No. ¿Preferiría poder estar con mi familia y amigos en Pascua? Si. Pero se que lo que estamos haciendo en este momento va más allá de esto. Así que solo me concentraré en lo que puedo controlar y como hacer de Pascua un día especial para mi hija.

Mom perspective

Since becoming a mom, seasons are different, there is always something to celebrate. Enter the Easter egg hunt. Before Elena, I couldn’t care less about bunnies, eggs and all the cute little animals going around. Easter had a more religious meaning to me because that is how I was raised. However, I wanted my kid to experience all the joy of the holidays. So, we started to go to the Easter egg hunt on our community as family. For the past two years it had been a nice memory for the three of us. And now that she is a little older is even more exciting because she understands more.

Desde que me convertí en mamá, las temporadas son un poco diferentes para mí. Siempre hay algo que celebrar. En este caso Pascua. Antes de Elena, no me importaba en lo más mínimo los conejitos y los huevos. La pascua tenía un significado mas religioso, porque así es como me educaron. Sin embargo, quería que mi hija experimentara este tipo de celebración también. Así que empezamos a ir a la Búsqueda de huevos de Pascua. Los últimos dos años han sido un bonita experiencia y recuerdos para los tres, y este año que ella ya comprende mas iba a ser incluso más divertido.

Easter Egg Hunt at home

So instead of feeling sorry for our ruined plans, I started working on a new one. If our family tradition is an Easter egg hunt, we are going to do an egg hunt even if is only in our backyard. Now, we live in a rental and for the first time in three years we’ve lived here, this is the first time I feel our backyard needs a ton of work, like more plants and patio furniture and a million little things to make it photo ready, but right now I’m just grateful that we have a roof over our heads.

Así que en lugar de sentir pena porque nuestro plan original se arruinó, empecé a trabajar en uno nuevo. Si nuestra tradición familiar es una búsqueda de huevos de pascua, eso es lo que haremos, aunque sea simplemente en nuestro patio. El cual necesita arreglarse, ahorita vivimos en una casa rentada así que arreglar el patio no es mi prioridad. Sin embargo, si hubiera sabido que iba estar encerrada aquí mínimo hubiera tratado de conseguir más plantas, aunque en este momento simplemente estoy agradecida de tener un lugar donde vivir.

What I ordered

Last week I ordered some eggs and a Frozen Lego set, this will be or little Easter treat for her. Before this year we never really got her anything, we never did baskets. Because usually her godparent or some family would give her a teddy, bubble etc. So, this is a little different in that aspect as well.

La semana pasada ordené unos huevos y un set de Legos de Frozen. El cual era nuestro regalo de Pascua para ella. Y una forma de mantenerla entretenida mientras esta situación continúe. Generalmente no le regalamos nada, solo íbamos por huevitos. Los padrinos o familia, le daban algún detalle, como burbujas o algún osito de peluche. Así que este año será la excepción.

I made sure that the eggs were big enough to fit some of the Lego pieces in them. The set I bought has three figures, Elsa, Anna and Olaf. So, I put each one of those in an egg and then select some other cool pieces and put them on eggs as well. Also, I did three eggs with chocolate kisses, because you know we all love chocolate.

Me aseguré de que los huevos fueran lo suficiente grandes para que cupieran las piezas de legos. En el set venían las figuras de Elsa, Ana y Olaf. Puse cada uno en un huevo, y escogí unas cuantas piezas del resto del set y los pusé en huevitos. Y además llene unos cuantos huevos con chocolates, porque todos amamos el chocolate en esta familia.

New Easter Plan

So next Sunday we all are going to get dress. I’ll lay the eggs in our back yard and we’ll have a little Egg hunt at home. To make it a little bit more of a celebration I’ll bake some carrot cupcakes. Trying to stay on the theme and crossing my fingers that I‘ll find the ingredients at the store. So, this is my new Easter plan. Not what I originally wanted, not exactly what I wanted, but something I can arrange to make Elena’s day a little brighter.

Entonces el próximo Domingo, nos arreglaremos. Acomodaré los huevitos en el patio y tendremos nuestra pequeña búsqueda de huevos de pascua en casa. Para hacerlo aún más especial prepararee cupcakes de zanahoria. Si es que encuentro todos los ingredientes que necesito en la tienda. Este es nuestro nuevo plan para pascua. No es lo que haríamos originalmente, y no precisamente lo que quería, pero es lo que puedo hacer para hacer el día especial para la familia.
